Letter 15: Enlightenment

To B.

Enlightenment is an insight into the origin of the mind as a result of a direct, unconditioned experience. It is a state of consciousness in which the mind knows completely and exactly how it exists. Immanuel Kant said that enlightenment is "man's emergence from his self-incurred immaturity." As such, it is the ability to fall back on oneself, not another, for understanding.

As ever, D.
